Launching Children

Posted by:

There comes a time in every parent’s life when their child grows up.  university photoFor some this is a relief, for others complete misery.  As parents of nine children, with our oldest being twenty-two, we are in the throes of launching children into the great big world and we will continue launching for the next eleven years.  For my wife and ...

You Just Never Know

Posted by:

I meet lots of people in my line of work and in the work with our non-profit ministry to families and I am always amazed when someone shares with me the struggles they or members of their family are going through.  No one and no family is immune from trials and tribulations, some are just better at hiding what is going on behind closed doors.

Bearing and Sharing the Burden

Personal and family trials are difficult and are very hard to deal ...

Only the Good Die Young

Posted by:

Billy Joel wrote a very popular song back in the 70s named Only the Good Die Young. It is a very upbeat and catchy song in which he sings about prayers, rosaries, confirmation and Catholic family life.  The only problem with the song is that the author is not very happy about his encounters with one or more catholic families. Apparently the Catholics he met did not do a very good job of spreading the gospel or ministering to ...

Courtship is not the Answer

Posted by:

I absolutely love the courtship approach to dating for my children, but it isn’t enough.  Courtship is the idea that young people should only enter into an exclusive relationship when they are ready to get married.  I have discussed in a previous blog post exactly what Dating with Purpose looks like, so go check it out for more details if you wish. Day 6 – The Papal Mass

Family Life is Unpredictable

The last day of the World Meeting of Families promised another awesome event with the Pope, this time with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as the centerpiece. For many, the opportunity to attend mass celebrated by the Pope is a once in a lifetime experience. The whole family was looking forward to this final day of the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, but when we awoke on Sunday morning, one ...

Meeting Families From All Over the World

Day 4

Making New Friends

The fifth day of our pilgrimage and the fourth day of the World Meeting of Families has come to a close.  Each day was filled with blessings (for a recap, see the daily articles), all according to God’s providence.  On Friday, the last day of the #WMF2015, we were so tired and the vendor area was closed down by the Secret Service for security reasons, and we barely made it to morning mass and we sat very ...
