Day 6 Intention: For Extended Family Members
Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are a beautiful part of God’s plan for family life. These extended relationships help parents in their duty to raise holy children, give children other adults to gain wisdom from and provide stability and support when times of trial come into family life.
The family is a community of generations. In prayer everyone should be present: the living and those who have died, and also those yet to come into the world. (cf. LF 10)
The family is a community of persons: of husband and wife, of parents and children, of relatives called to form an authentic community of persons. (cf. FC 18)
The Novena Prayer:
St. John Paul II, great champion of the family, we seek your intercession for all members of our extended family. We thank you Lord for the gift of our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Inspire in us a desire to be holy and do our part to make our family a holy family and petition God to grant us the favor of the following intention(s):
For the success of the upcoming Retreat for Families
(mention any family specific intentions here)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall praise God, now and for ever, giving glory to his name by the witness of our lives. Amen.
Closing Prayer – The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
